Play the game the pharaohs took to their tombs. Senet is the oldest board game in the world — played along the Nile more than 5,000 years ago, and so loved by Tutankhamun that four boards were buried with him for the journey to the afterlife.
This handmade set brings that ancient game to your table, crafted in Egypt the traditional way. The board carries the classic thirty squares in three rows of ten, and instead of dice you throw four casting sticks to move your pieces — racing your opponent across the board and off the far edge to win. Easy to learn, quick to play (around 15–20 minutes), and endlessly replayable.
Each set comes with lion and jackal playing pieces — the two creatures the Egyptians themselves set against one another — plus a printed booklet that teaches the rules and tells the story of Senet as the game of the soul’s passage to the afterlife.
A natural gift for history lovers, collectors, teachers and anyone drawn to ancient Egypt — as beautiful left out on a shelf as it is in play. Because each set is handmade, small variations in grain and finish make every board one of a kind.
